Bloomsburg Shuts Out Millersville in Field Hockey
MILLERSVILLE --Junior Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored three goals to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 4-0 win over Millersville on Saturday.
Following a scoreless first half, Heckard put the Huskies, the top-ranked team in Division II, on the board with 17:10 left to play in the game when she scored off a Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) assist. Heckard scored again six minutes later with an assist to Erin Hench (Loysville/West Perry). Heckard picked up the true hat-trick with 9:55 to play in the game when she hit the back of the cage with the assist going to Whitney Miller (Lancaster/Penn Manor).
Kropa finished off the scoring in the game with 7:58 left in the game off an assist from Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland).
In goal, Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) posted the shutout by stopping seven shots.
Bloomsburg is now 6-0 on the year, 4-0 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg will host Kutztown on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Sports Stadium on the upper campus.
